Brad Pitt Brings Back His Iconic 2004 Buzz Cut in One of the Biggest Hair Transformations of the Year

Brad Pitt is transporting us back to 2004.

The Oscar winner has had many hair phases and transformations throughout the years, but none as famous as the shaved head he rocked in the early aughts.

And just in time for summer, the star was photographed in Los Angeles sporting a clean buzz cut reminiscent of the look he wore on red carpets in 2004 and his 2005 film Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

In addition to saying goodbye to his signature long, honey blonde hair, which recently took on a shaggy crew cut look on the set of his new racing-inspired film F1 (out June 27), Pitt also ditched the grown-out salt-and-pepper beard that he was photographed with earlier this year.

At the time, he had his longer hair covered with a bucket hat while displaying his facial hair, which he recently shaved down to a bit of sexy scruff on his chin, jawline and upper lip.

It’s unclear if Pitt’s haircut is for a new role.

Hair transformations are common for Pitt, who has experimented with many looks, like the shoulder-grazing, sun-kissed strands that carried him through filming famous movies like Legends of the Fall and Interview with the Vampire of the matching blonde sweep that he and girlfriend at the time, Gwyneth Paltrow, rocked in the late ’90s. (In 2021, Paltrow revealed the story behind the haircuts, revealing, “We went to the same stylist for the cut. [Celebrity hairstylist] Chris McMillan cut both of our hair like this.”)

While promoting Wolfs around the world with his costar George Clooney in 2024, Pitt was seen with an ashy blonde haircut with hints of gray.

The look made him almost recognizable at the Cannes Film Festival, where he and Ines de Ramon made their dazzling red carpet debut at the movie’s premiere.

Pitt isn’t the only stud switching up his look. Fellow Oscar winner and close friend Clooney dyed his famous silver strands brunette for his Broadway debut in the stage production of Good Night, and Good Luck. Meanwhile And Just Like That… and Sex and the City star John Corbett decided to actually grow out his hair in a mullet style for the summer.
